Gorge Home Learners

We are a non-religion based group of families who unschool, follow classical education, and everything in between. We meet every Tuesday from 12:00 to 3:00. In the summer and fall, we meet in Oak Grove Park. From late October to April we meet in the Underwood Grange hall. We plan field trips, hold classes, and informally exchange ideas and materials.

Gorge Home Learners meets on Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m. From November through March meetings are held at the Rockford Grange in Hood River, and in April through October meetings are held at the Underwood Grange in Underwood, Wash. Admission is free, and open to all home-schoolers Visit the Columbia Gorge Home Learners Network Yahoo Group page for more info.

L.I.F.E. - Learning in Family Environments

A Christian based group, L.I.F.E. (Learning to Individualize Family Education) provides support for like minded home educators and collaboration on field trips and other activities. We get together in a variety of ways based on the group's current needs. In the past we've coordinated Mom's meetings, Summer park days, Spelling bees, Science fairs, a Homeschool co-op, Swimming lessons (open to ALL homeschooling families in the Gorge), Art shows at the library, and countless Field trips. Sometimes a parent will even open up a class they want to teach to the group to enrich the learning environment. We use an email loop to keep all our members connected, offer support and encouragement and help the flow of information get to everyone. We also like to share special discounts offered to School groups (such as student showings of plays and/or ballets & concerts) when we find out about them.
